FAQ's about Therapy with Olivia Korn, LCSW in NYC

Fees, Insurance & Logistics Questions

  • Do you take insurance? I am an out-of-network provider meaning I do not accept insurance directly. However, I provide a superbill to clients who have out-of-network insurance coverage to secure reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance company directly to assess the cost before beginning treatment. Here are some questions to ask them:

    • Does my plan offer any out-of-network benefits for mental health?

    • Do I have a deductible? If yes, how much of it has already been met?

    • Are there any limitations on the number of sessions my plan covers for mental health?

    • How much will I be reimbursed per visit when I see an out-of-network mental health provider?

    • Do I need prior approval or a referral in order to receive reimbursement for out-of-network mental health care?

  • My fee is $275 per session. While I am not in-network with insurance plans, many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement for out-of-network services.

If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible to get a portion of the fee reimbursed. I’m happy to provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for this purpose.

I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits, including your reimbursement rate and deductible

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your therapy appointment, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed sessions, may be charged the full session fee.

This policy helps maintain consistent progress in therapy and allows appointment times to be made available to other clients seeking support. If an emergency arises, please reach out as soon as possible.

I provide online therapy for women throughout NYC and New York State and strive to make scheduling as straightforward and transparent as possible

About Therapy & What to Expect

  • Therapy can be helpful if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, disconnected from yourself, or impacted by past experiences that continue to affect your daily life. Many women seek therapy when anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, or life transitions begin interfering with their well-being.

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Working with a therapist can provide support, insight, and practical tools to help you navigate challenges and create lasting change. Whether you're looking for trauma therapy, anxiety treatment, EMDR therapy, or a somatic approach to healing, therapy offers a space to understand yourself better and move toward the life you want.

  • Finding the right therapist is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is a strong predictor of positive outcomes.

When choosing a therapist, consider their experience, areas of specialization, therapeutic approach, and whether you feel understood and supported during your interactions with them. If you're seeking therapy for trauma or anxiety, it can be especially helpful to work with a therapist who has training in evidence-based approaches such as EMDR therapy and somatic therapy.

Many women choose to work with therapists who understand the unique pressures, expectations, and experiences that can impact women's mental health and relationships.

  • I bring warmth, curiosity, and genuine dedication to the therapy process. I love working with women who are ready to go beyond surface-level coping and explore the deeper patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be keeping them stuck. My style is active and collaborative—I won't just sit back and nod, but will thoughtfully engage with you as we make sense of your experiences and work toward lasting change.

I also bring a unique blend of experiential approaches, including EMDR and somatic therapy, to help clients heal not only through insight, but through deeper emotional and nervous system transformation. My goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself, more grounded in your life, and more free to move forward in the ways that matter most to you.

  • Most clients begin with weekly therapy sessions. Meeting consistently helps build momentum, strengthen the therapeutic relationship, and support meaningful progress.

Depending on your goals and circumstances, session frequency may change over time. Some clients choose to meet biweekly once they've achieved greater stability, while others continue with weekly sessions for ongoing support and growth.

Together, we'll determine a schedule that feels sustainable and supports your healing process.
