Meet Olivia Korn- Kochen, LCSW- Integrative Trauma & Somatic Therapist for Women in NYC
Many of the women I work with are intelligent, capable, and deeply self-aware — yet privately struggling with anxiety, trauma patterns, or a complicated relationship with food and their bodies.
On the outside, they appear high-functioning. On the inside, they feel:
• Chronically tense or overwhelmed
• Disconnected from their body
• Caught in attachment patterns they don’t understand
• Exhausted from trying to “think” their way out of distress
If this resonates, you are not broken. Your nervous system has adapted to survive.
This is where our work begins.
My Areas of Expertise
I help women move through anxiety, trauma, and disordered eating by working with both body and mind. Together, we process past experiences, understand your inner “parts,” and teach your body to release tension—so calm, confidence, and safety feel natural, not forced
My work draws from:
• EMDR for trauma processing: Helps your brain process difficult or painful memories so they stop showing up as anxiety, panic, or flashbacks. For example, instead of feeling tense every time a certain memory pops up, your body can start to feel calm and safe
• Internal Family Systems (IFS): We all have different parts inside us, some that are critical, some that are scared, some that just want to protect us. IFS helps you understand and care for these parts. Imagine having an inner dialogue where your anxious or self-critical side feels heard and supported rather than in charge all the time.
• Attachment-based therapy (AEDP): This focuses on creating healing connections. In everyday life, it’s like learning to feel safe and supported in relationships again, even if past experiences made that feel impossible.
• Somatic and nervous system regulation practices (SE, TRM): Our bodies often hold stress and trauma even when our minds think we’re “fine.” These practices teach you to notice and release tension in your body. For instance, you might learn small movements, breathing techniques, or gentle exercises that help your nervous system settle, so anxiety feels more manageable
Rather than staying solely in insight, we work experientially — helping your body update old survival patterns so change feels embodied, not forced.
Why I do this work
I am continually moved by how much women carry quietly — the pressure to perform, to appear composed, to hold everything together. My work is rooted in creating a space where that armor can soften and healing can happen safely and at your pace.
